Scholars Summer Leadership Institute
When:
Summer 2004
Where:
Washington, DC
The
Washington, DC region offers numerous opportunities for internships
and training. The Institute will take place at The George Washington
University and/or other facilities close to the campus. Training
sites will be determined by the needs of the Institute and announced
as soon as possible. All venues are accessible to METRO subway, a
safe, clean and affordable option.
How:
1) Work with your
advisor to build a research agenda.
2) Determine your
research needs—one week in Washington or an extended stay.
3) Complete and return the attached
application form indicating your interest.
Costs:
The sponsors and
your university are underwriting the costs for The Institute. The
costs to your university are: airfare/transportation, lodging and per
diem costs, not covered by the institute. The Institute will provide
some breakfasts and lunches. Dinner, local transportation and
entertainment costs are the responsibility of the participant’s
university.
Lodging:
The
average rate for hotel lodging in the GWU area will be
approximately $120/per night or less.
Metro: Regular Fare
$1.20 base (0-3 miles), maximum fare $3.60
Reduced Fare
$1.20 (0-7
miles), $1.70 (7-10 miles), $2.20 (10+miles)
Regular
fares are charged 5:30-9:30 a.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. weekdays.
Reduced fares are charged at all other times.
During your stay in Washington, you will find
many “sights” and events close to the METRO stops.
